Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced that the Quad City Flames of the American Hockey League have assigned defenseman Mike Madill to Las Vegas.
"We are thrilled to get a player of Madill's caliber here in Las Vegas," said Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "We saw him last year as a member of the Texas Wildcatters. He came highly recommended from Mike McKenna who played with Madill in college."
Madill started this season in the Calgary Flames Training Camp, followed up by Quad City's training camp. Madill appeared in both of the Flames first two games. He recorded an assist on Opening Night as the Flames beat Rockford 5-1. Madill was held pointless in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Peoria.
Madill played seven games with the AHL's Houston Aeros last season. He recorded one point (an assist) during his inaugural stint in the AHL. Madill spent the majority of the 2006-07 season with the ECHL's Texas Wildcatters. He ranked ninth in scoring amongst ECHL defensemen with 43 points (four goals and 39 assists) last season. The 25-year old was named to the 2007 American Conference All-Star Team as a member of the Wildcatters. Prior to turning pro, Madill played four seasons at St. Lawrence University, three of them with former Wranglers goalie Mike McKenna. In 154 collegiate games, Madill scored 14 goals and added 49 assists for 63 points.
