RoadRunners Sign Nick Pomponio

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL have announced that center Nick Pomponio has signed a contract for the upcoming 2007-08 ECHL season.

Pomponio, 23, tallied 11 goals and 27 points, and added 90 penalty minutes in 32 games last season with Torino of the Italian Serie A. The Livonia, Mich. native and second-year professional completed a four-year collegiate career in 2005-06 at NCAA Division I Merrimack College in Andover, Mass. with eight goals and 29 points in 109 career games.

In a separate transaction, the RoadRunners have suspended rookie center Dustin Moore. Moore has decided to leave the team for personal reasons.

The RoadRunners will visit the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League in the "Battle of the Desert" pre-season series at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. Tickets for both pre-season games are on sale now and will be $13 regardless of location in Tim's Toyota Center. The RoadRunners return to US Airways Center at 7:11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 when they host the Utah Grizzlies to commence their third season in the desert.
