Port Huron Flags News Release
Port Huron, MI-The Board of Directors of the Port Huron Flags announced that the United Hockey League's (UHL) only community owned, non-profit team will be returning for their second season in 2006-2007.
With newly appointed President, former Port Huron Mayor B. Mark Neal now in office, The Flags have rallied behind him and promised fans that indeed, "the boys will be back, again" in the 2006-2007 United Hockey League (UHL) season.
With 8 games remaining in regular season and a grim shot at making the play- offs, The Flags look to build on the successes of their inaugural season in the months ahead.
"We are preparing the season ticket renewals as we speak to get out to fans so they can reserve their seats for next season, said B. Mark Neal. "The entire Flags' organization is excited and will be working hard to make the second season a success both on and off the ice."
Flags Director of Marketing Sherri Matusz praises local fans for their support and dedication in bringing and keeping the Flags in Port Huron.
"It's been an unbelievable year," said Matusz. "And now with Mark [Neal] on board and the end of a successful inaugural season approaching, we're looking forward to the future."
Matusz believes Neal embodies the spirit of Port Huron and is confident that he will be successful in maintaining and growing local fan support.
"It's all about the fans," said Matusz, "it always has been, and it always will be; particularly in Port Huron and especially with a community owned team, there's just no other way."
On ice action this weekend features the Flags tonight in Muskegon, returning to Port Huron's McMorran Arena Saturday night to take on the Motor City Mechanics at 7:30pm. The team will also be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on Ice for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Sunday, March 26.
