Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Steve Martinson announced on Friday that the United Hockey League club has signed rookie defenseman Andrew Hotham to a contract. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Hotham is expected to make his professional debut on Friday night when the IceHogs take on the Danbury Trashers at the Rockford MetroCentre at 7:05 p.m. The first year pro is the brother of former IceHogs defenseman Scott Hotham, who skated for the IceHogs during last season's playoff run.
The 6'-2", 205lb d-man played for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League this season. In 60 games, the 19-year old blue-liner netted 10g-39a-49pts. His point total was tops among all Otters defenseman and good enough for fourth most on the club.
The 2005-06 campaign was Hotham's second full season in the OHL. Last season, he played with his brother for 21 games with the Barrie Colts before finishing the campaign in Erie.
In other IceHogs news, Martinson announced that Andrew Joy was added to the roster as the club's Emergency Backup Goaltender. Goalie Michel Robinson is on the 7-Day Injured Reserve. Joy served as the club's Emergency Backup twice earlier in the campaign.
Next Home Game:
