July 12, 2011 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Worcester Tornadoes News Release

Five Tornadoes players were ejected, one left with an injury and Chris Colabello hit two homers in a 9-4 loss to the New Jersey Jackals on Tuesday.

Kevin Cooper pitched four innings and allowed six runs (all earned) in the loss (2-2). He struck out four batters and walked two. Cooper was able to retire the Jackals in order in the first, including his first strikeout, which brought Worcester to the plate in the bottom half of the frame.

Colabello hit a solo homer to give the Tornadoes their only lead of the game, 1-0. The Jackals countered with four runs in the second and two more in the third before Worcester struck next.

Nick Serino threw two strikes to Kris Sanchez leading off the fifth. The next two pitches were eached called balls. With the 2-2 count, Serino, Alex Trezza and Ed Riley were all ejected for arguing. Zach Zuercher and Ryan Bicondoa were ejected later in the game.

The Tornadoes picked up three more runs in their half of the fifth, as Colabello went deep for the second time of the night, and Nick Salotti followed two batters later. Colabello has four homers over his last four games, and was the second hitter in as many nights to go deep twice in a game. (Mark Minicozzi hit a two-run homer and a three-run homer in consecutive innings on Monday in the 14-5 win.)

Alex Nunez was hit by a pitch in the wrist in the bottom of the sixth inning. He stayed in the game for that half inning to run the basepaths, but didn't return for the sixth.

New Jersey added three more runs in the eighth, all of them unearned.

Wednesday is an off-day for Worcester, with the New York Federals coming to town for a three-game set starting Thursday morning at 11:05.
