Quebec Sweeps Rockland in Double-Header

QUEBEC, Canada - The Quebec Capitales defeated the Rockland Boulders in a double-header on Tuesday night in Can-Am League Action.
The Capitales shutout the Boulders in game two, 2-0, after pushing past Rockland in game one, 9-5.
Game one saw the two-time defending Can-Am League champs put up a five spot in the first inning off Boulders starter, Casey Hodges. The Capitales benefited from two doubles from Rene Leveret and Michael Thompson that drove in three runs, while Patrick Daoust's two RBI single capped off the frame.
With Quebec up 6-1 after two, the Boulders generated offense of their own scoring the game's next three runs. In the top of the third, Cristobal Santana crossed home plate after Ryde Rodriguez grounded into a fielder's choice. On the play, Scott Clement would advance to third, and later trotted home after Capitales' pitcher Bryan Rembisz balked him in on the next batter. Vic Buttler then doubled in Cole Kraft to cut the deficit to 6-4.
However, Quebec, in the bottom of the fourth, registered three runs powered by the bats of Leveret and Thomson to secure the 9-5 victory for the Capitales.
Hodges was charged with the loss, his fourth, after giving up six runs on eight hits. Jeff Duda picked up his second win allowing one run over two innings.
Game two saw a pitchers duel, but it was the Capitales getting the best of Bobby Blevins and the Boulders with two runs late in the game.
The right-hander only walked five batters while striking out five over six innings of work for Rockland, however surrendered his only two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
John Mariotti improved to a perfect 4-0, striking out five over six innings of work.
