Quebec 2, Rockland 0 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

In an about face from Game 1, Quebec and Rockland fought out a pitchers' duel in Game 2, with John Mariotti earning a 2-0 win. The 6-foot 26-year-old hurler threw six shutout innings and struck out five Boulders batters en route to his fourth win of the season. On the mound for Rockland, Bobby Blevins had a shutout on the board through five innings. But in the sixth, Quebec's Michael L. Thompson doubled in two runs to break the scoreless tie and send Quebec to victory. It was Thompson's only hit in the game, but he made it count. He now has 21 RBI on the season.

Newark 11, New York 4

His team leading, 6-4, entering the bottom of the eighth, Newark 2B Ryan Walsh sparked a five-run inning with a lead-off solo home run just four pitches into the inning. In four at-bats, Walsh led all players with three hits, tied for the game-high with two RBI and scored two runs. Newark leadoff man Tim Raines Jr. scored four runs to lead all players. The Bears CF reached base about every way possible, picking up two hits, walking once and reaching on an error. The Federals took a two-run lead in the fourth, but from that point on, it was all Bears, with Newark scoring at least one run in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings before blowing up for five in the eighth.

Brockton 8, Pittsfield 6

Rox CF Chris Valencia proved how important a good leadoff performance can be Tuesday night's 8-6 Brockton win over Pittsfield, as the one-hole hitter went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Valencia singled to open the bottom of the second with Pittsfield on top 1-0, eventually scoring on a Keith Brachold home run to put the Rox on top. Brockton added four runs in the second, including another two-run homer that scored Valencia, this one off the bat of SS Dominic Ramos. Pittsfield played catch-up from that point on, but couldn't muster enough to pull ahead, trailing by at least two runs for the rest of the game.
