Zebulon, N.C. - The Jacksonville Suns tied a season high with five errors as the Carolina Mudcats capitalized on Suns mistakes to run away with Tuesday's game at Five County Stadium by the score of 10-1.

The Suns trailed 3-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning when Wesley Wright came from the bullpen to relieve starting pitcher Adam Thomas. Wright got the first batter to bounce toward third base, but Sergio Garcia's throw to first pulled the first baseman A.J. Zapp from the bag. The next batter bounced toward second, seemingly beginning a double play. Second baseman Tony Abreu bobbled the ball and both runners were safe. After striking out Brett Carroll, Wesley Wright threw a wild pitch to move the runners into scoring position and followed it up with a balk to plate the first run. With a man at third and one out, the Mudcats attempted a suicide squeeze and as the runner sprinted home, Wright flipped the bunted ball over the catcher for the third error of the inning.

Things grew worse for Wright in the seventh inning as after he hit the leadoff batter Jose Campusano, Frank Moore belted his first homerun with Carolina to extend the Mudcats lead to 7-1. The next three men reached safely, the last being Ryan Bear with a two-run double to make it 9-1. Justin Simmons came on in relief and later allowed an RBI single from Jamie Athas to extend the lead to 10-1. All the runs during the seventh were earned and credited to Wright.

The late scoring marred what was a relatively tight game in the early stages.

Carolina scored first in the third inning on a fielder's choice RBI from Jose Campusano and an RBI single from Frank Moore to open a 2-0 lead.

Jacksonville finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning as Tydus Meadows recorded an RBI single to score Tony Abreu and make it 2-1. The Mudcats countered in the bottom of the fifth as Jamie Athas scored on a Chin-Lung Hu throwing error to extend the lead to 3-1.

Carolina starter James Russ improved to 4-6 in the victory while Suns starter Adam Thomas fell to 2-4 in the loss.

Jacksonville's five errors tied the season high set on May 4 at Birmingham. The season series between Carolina and Jacksonville is tied at 7-7. The Suns are now 52-27 overall and 4-5 in the second half.

Jacksonville and Carolina meet in the final game of the series Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. ET. RHP Alvis Ojeda will face Carolina LHP Adam Bostick. Fans can follow the action on AM 930 The Fox or online at jaxsuns.com or milb.com.
