Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY - Mobile starter John Hudgins limited the Montgomery lineup to five hits and one run over six innings, as the BayBears (5-4) breezed past the Biscuits (4-5), 6-1, on Tuesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
The victory for Mobile evens up the five-game series at two wins apiece heading into the rubber match.
Hudgins (4-3) struck out seven Biscuits batsmen in dominating the Montgomery lineup. The home team's only scoring came in the fourth inning on a Michael Coleman RBI single, temporarily tying the score at 1-1.
The BayBears immediately seized the lead back in the top of the fifth. Matt Lauderdale and Juan Ciriaco roped consecutive run-scoring doubles off of Montgomery starter Jim Magrane (9-6) for a two-run lead.
Mobile would add two more runs in the sixth inning before leadoff hitter Brett Dowdy closed out the scoring in the seventh with a solo home run, his first homer of the season.
Gabriel Martinez went 2-for-4 with two doubles in the losing effort for Montgomery, who will attempt to rebound in a special game on Wednesday beginning at 12:00 noon.
It will be Summer Splash Day at Riverwalk Stadium, with the pitching matchup seeing Montgomery righthander Tony Peguero (7-7, 3.35) oppose Mobile's Jose Oyervidez (2-6, 3.74).
