
Jaxx drop both games to Smokies in double header

Seveirville, TN (June 27th)- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx dropped a pair of games to the Tennessee Smokies on Tuesday night at Smokies Park. They lost the first game 4-2 and were shutout in the nightcap 1-0. This is the first time the Diamond Jaxx have been swept in a doubleheader this season.
In the first game, Smokies left-hander Greg Smith allowed two runs over six innings of work to pick up the win. Smith (2-1) allowed six hits and two walks while striking out three. Alberto Gonzalez broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning with a solo homer off losing pitcher Juan Mateo (4-4). Miguel Montero homered later in the inning to make it 4-2.
Chris Walker had two hits and a run scored while Brian Dopirak and Carlos Rojas drove in the runs to pace the Diamond Jaxx attack.
In the nightcap, Ross Ohlendorf (7-3) pitched a complete game four hit shutout to lead the Smokies to the win. It's the second complete game of the season for the right-hander. Phil Avlas drove in the only run of the game with a fourth inning single.
Chris Shaver (4-5) suffered the tough luck loss for the Diamond Jaxx, whose second half record falls to 5-4.
The final game of the series takes place tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. CDT. Righty Sean Gallagher (2-0 2.45) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Tennessee will counter with lefty Matt Chico (1-2 2.63
