Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators were not able to recover from a five-run first inning by the Altoona Curve in a 7-4 loss on Saturday night in Altoona.

Only one of the five first inning runs were earned to the Senators' Zach Kroenke who allowed a leadoff home run to Alen Hanson. A throwing error with two outs scored one Altoona run and the Curve followed with three more in the inning. Kroenke went on to allow three earned runs in his five innings of work while striking out two Altoona batters. Paul Demny (one inning) and Derek Self (two innings) both had perfect outings of relief. Kroenke, Demny and Self combined to retire the final 13 Altoona batters of the game.

Harrisburg was on the board first as Michael Taylor (2-for-4, two doubles) doubled and two batters later Matt Skole singled him home in the first inning. Unfortunately, the Senators would not score again until the seventh inning. Adrian Sanchez knocked in Jason Martinson with an RBI single to make it 7-2, Altoona. Quincy Latimore followed as a pinch-hitter for Paul Demny and tripled into the left-center field gap to score Brian Jeroloman and Sanchez. The Senators remained down 7-4 in the eighth when they loaded the bases with two outs, but a strikeout followed to end the inning.

Tomorrow night, first pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. with Altoona's Joely Rodriguez on the mound. Harrisburg will send Brian Dupra to the hill. The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 5:45 p.m. on 1460 AM or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.
