
Five Players Score as Ice Flyers Down Rivermen 6-3

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Feb. 10, 2017) - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (13-15-6) used a five different goal scorers and a strong full-team defensive effort to down the Peoria Rivermen (18-8-7) by a score of 6-3 on Friday night inside the Pensacola Bay Center.
After a very solid start to the game for the Ice Flyers, Nathan Bruyere cashed in with a power play goal on a long shot from the right point with former Ice Flyer Cody Dion in the penalty box for boarding. Corey Banfield had the only assist on Bruyere's third goal of the season that came with 4:30 left in the first period.
Donald Olivieri tied the game up at one a piece just 2:44 into the second. The Ice Flyers regained the lead 23 seconds later when Corey Banfield tipped a long shot by Sean Gammage. Josh Harris had the other assist on the goal. Just 15 seconds later, the former Ice Flyer Dion tied the game once again with an unassisted effort. Olivieri scored his second of the period with 9:40 left in the second to make it 3-2 and give the Rivermen their first lead of the game. With 2:41 left in the period, Louis Belisle scored on a shot from the slot to tie the game at three.
The Ice Flyers regained the lead just 17 seconds into the third when Aaron Clarke put the puck behind Rivermen goalie Storm Phaneuf. Evan Moore and John Gustafsson picked up the assists. Patrick Megannety put the Ice Flyers up 5-3 when he tipped in a puck for a power play goal with 11:55 left in the third. Moore and Belisle had the assists on the goal. Megannety got his second of the game when he took a pass from Bruyere, skated up the left wing side, and fired the puck into the empty net with 23 seconds remaining in the third.
Matt Zenzola stopped 15 of Peoria's 18 shots on goal. His record now stands at 9-7-5 on the year.
The Ice Flyers will return to the Pensacola Bay Center tomorrow and face these Peoria Rivermen again tomorrow night for Zombie Night at 7:05 p.m. Sunday will be the Ice Flyers' annual Scout Night at 4:05 p.m.
