LAST MAYHEM MATCHUP: The Mayhem' last game came on Tuesday night in Mississippi against the RiverKings, and Macon skated away with a hard-fought 4-3 victory.
ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mayhem are now 2-7-1 in their two-season team history against Knoxville, including 1-1-0 this year.
LAST MEETING: Their last meeting was at the Macon Coliseum back on January 21, and Knoxville throttled the Mayhem 4-0. Three of the Ice Bears' goals came on the power play, as they went 3-6 on the man-advantage. Defenseman John Rey assisted on all four goals, while Berkley Scott added a goal and an assist. Starting goaltender Dylan Wells saved all 43 shots he faced and tallied an assist on the Ice Bear's second goal.
SCOUTING THE ICE BEARS: Knoxville averages the second-most goals in the SPHL (3.33 per game), but they have only scored 10 goals in their past five games. They are the most undisciplined team in the league, but they have the best penalty kill (90.3%) and have scored the most short-handed goals (6). The Ice Bears have been struggling in goal-prevention lately, as they have allowed 15 goals in the last three games - raising their goals against per game to 2.97.
X-FACTOR - SPECIAL TEAMS: The Mayhem have the worst penalty kill in the league (78.7%) and have scored on just two of their last 33 power plays. When the Mayhem score at least one PP goal in a game this season, they are 12-1-1, and when they do not allow a PP goal, Macon is 14-1-2.
A LOOK TO THE FUTURE: The Mayhem will travel to the Berglund Center in Roanoke to take on the Rail Yard Dawgs on Saturday and Sunday. They return home for three games next weekend on Military Appreciation Weekend.
