
Five Oil Kings to Attend NHL Training Camps

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings will have five players from their current roster attending NHL training camps, beginning later this week.
F Dylan Guenther - Arizona Coyotes
Guenther, an Edmonton, AB product, was selected in the first round, ninth overall, by the Coyotes in the 2021 NHL Draft.
The 6-foot-1, 181-pound forward registered 91 points (45G, 46A) in 59 regular season games with the Oil Kings last season, while adding 24 points (12G, 12A) in just 12 post-season games on the Oil Kings run to capturing the Ed Chynoweth Cup.
In his Oil Kings career, Guenther ranks eighth all-time on the franchise's scoring list having tallied 178 points (86G, 92A) in 137 games.
F Jakub Demek - Vegas Golden Knights
Demek, a Kosice, Slovakia native, was selected in the fourth round, 128th overall, by the Golden Knights in the 2021 NHL Draft.
The 6-foot-4, 196-pound centermen is coming off his first season in the WHL that saw him appear in 55 games and record 54 points (20G, 34A), a +18 plus/minus rating and 39 penalty minutes.
During the 2022 WHL Playoffs, he added 17 points (5G, 12A) in 19 games and scored the Championship Winning Goal in game six of the WHL Championship Series against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
D Logan Dowhaniuk - Arizona Coyotes
Dowhaniuk, a Sherwood Park, AB product, has been invited to attend the Arizona Coyotes training camp as a free agent.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound rearguard is coming off a career season in the WHL in which he put up 36 points (8G, 28A) in 62 games. During the 2022 WHL Playoffs, he added another 11 points (3G, 8A) in 19 games.
This past summer, he attended the Edmonton Oilers summer development camp.
G Kolby Hay - Florida Panthers
Hay, a Monte Creek, BC, native has been invited to attend the Florida Panthers training camp as a free agent.
The 6-foot-4, 184-pound netminder is coming his first season in the WHL last year where he appeared in 25 games and posted a record of 16-4-1-0 with a 3.11 goals-against average and a .885 save-percentage.
This past summer, he attended the Panthers summer development camp.
F Luca Hauf - Edmonton Oilers
Hauf, a Krefeld, Germany product, has been invited to attend the Edmonton Oilers training camp as a free agent.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward is entering his first season in the WHL after being selected by the Oil Kings in the CHL Import Draft this past July.
Last season, he played 25 games with Krefelder EV 1981 U23 of the German third-division professional league where he put up 32 points (11G, 21A). He also played 12 games in the top German professional league, the DEL, with the Krefeld Pinguine.
This past summer, he represented his home country of Germany at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton.
F Jaxsen Wiebe - Winnipeg Jets
Wiebe, a Moose, SK, product, has been invited to attend the Winnipeg Jets training camp as a free agent, but will not attend due to injury.
The 6-foot, 202-pound forward is coming off a breakout campaign from the 2021-22 season where he put up a career best 36 points (10G, 26A) in 51 games to go along with 95 penalty minutes and a +17 plus/minus rating. During the post-season, he added eight points (2G, 6A) in 13 games and led the Oil Kings in scoring at the 2022 Memorial Cup in Saint John after posting four points (3G, 1A) in three games.
This past summer, he attended the Columbus Blue Jackets summer development camp.
In addition, the Oil Kings will have several other key pieces from their 2021-22 WHL Championship winning roster in NHL camps later this week.
F Jake Neighbours (St. Louis Blues), F Justin Sourdif (Florida Panthers), D Kaiden Guhle (Montreal Canadiens), D Luke Prokop (Nashville Predators) and G Sebastian Cossa (Detroit Red Wings) are eligible to return to the Oil Kings this season but are expected to turn pro instead.
All three of the Oil Kings overage players from the 2021-22 season will also be attending NHL training camp this week as free-agent invites:
