
Five From Trenton Make Trip to Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. - The Lowell Devils announced that they have signed left wing Eric Castonguay and defensemen Matt Cohen and Ryan Gunderson to professional try-out agreements, while left wing Trevor Kell and right wing Joe Rooney have been recalled from loan from the Trenton Devils (ECHL).
Castonguay, 20, ranked second on the Trenton Devils in goals (20) and assists (27) and tied for the team lead with 47 points. A rookie out of Granby, QC, Castonguay played for three seasons with the Lewiston MAINEiacs (QMJHL) before joining Trenton, compiling 161 points (72g, 89a) and 50 penalty minutes in 205 games.
Cohen, 22, posted five goals, 17 assists and 67 penalty minutes while skating in all 72 games for the Devils this season. A four-year letterman out of Yale University, Cohen's 17 assists tied for second among team defensemen.
Gunderson, 22, led all ECHL rookie defensemen and ranked second overall among blueliners with 42 assists. His 46 points in 72 games also led first-year defensemen and was tied for fifth overall. The Bensalem, PA-native ranked third on the Devils in points (44) and was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team on April 3.
Kell, 21, returns for his second stint in Lowell. Originally recalled from Trenton on January 2, Kell began his AHL career by notching six points (2g, 4a) over his first five games. The first-year player out of Thunder Bay, ON would appear in two more games with Lowell before heading back to Trenton, where he finished fifth on the squad with 36 points (16g, 20a).
Rooney, 22, will also be making his second appearance with the Lowell Devils this season. Hailing from Canton, MA, Rooney potted three goals in 11 games during his first recall to Lowell. With Trenton, Rooney totaled 14 goals, 21 assists and 31 penalty minutes in 50 games.
Lowell wraps up its regular season home schedule on Wednesday, April 9 as the Portland Pirates come to town at 7:05 p.m. It's Dollar Dawg night as all hot dogs will be just $1 for fans in attendance.
