San Jose Sharks Sign Defensman Mike Moore

San Jose, Calif - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed defenseman Mike Moore. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Moore, 23, recently completed his senior season at Princeton University (ECAC). Named the 2008 ECAC Hockey Defensive Defenseman of the Year, Moore was first among Princeton defenseman in goals (seven), assists (17) and points (24) in 34 games. Moore was named First-Team All-Ivy as well as First-Team All-ECAC Hockey.

The six-foot-one, 200-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, finished his Princeton career with 52 points (14 goals, 38 assists) and 154 penalty minutes in 121 games.

Mike Moore will report to San Jose's AHL affiliate the Worcester Sharks, and wear #8.

The Sharks remain home on Wednesday to host the Providence Bruins at 7:05 p.m. on Fill Me Up Wednesdays. After a road game at Portland, Worcester is home for the final two games of the season on Saturday vs. Lowell and Sunday vs. the Springfield Falcons. It is fan appreciation weekend which means a number of promotions, including a Tim Murray bobble head doll giveaway on Sunday!
