Canucks assign three to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have re-assigned forward Rick Rypien, as well as defencemen Luc Bourdon and Nathan McIver to the Moose.

Bourdon, 21, has played in 38 games with the Moose this year where he's scored six goals and seven assists for 13 points, as well as 66 penalty minutes. The Shippigan, NB native has also appeared in 27 games with the Canucks where he has scored two goals and collected 24 penalty minutes. He scored his first-ever NHL goal on Nov. 16/07 vs. Minnesota. Last season, Bourdon played in nine regular-season games with the Canucks where he collected four penalty minutes, as well as five playoff games with the Moose, where he earned two penalty minutes. Bourdon was originally drafted by Vancouver in the first round, 10th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

McIver, 23, has appeared in 40 games this season with the Moose and has scored three goals and three assists for six points and 106 penalty minutes. The Summerside, PEI native scored the game-winning goal Nov. 10/07 vs. Milwaukee and then scored the overtime winner Dec. 22/07 vs. Hamilton. McIver has played in 169 AHL games in his career - all with the Moose. He has scored five goals and 11 assists for 16 points and 402 penalty minutes. In 14 career Calder Cup playoff games with Manitoba, he has 28 penalty minutes. McIver also played in 17 games with the Canucks this season and collected 52 penalty minutes. McIver was originally Vancouver's eighth round draft choice, 254th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Rypien, 23, has three goals and 11 assists for 14 points and 72 penalty minutes in 31 games with the Moose. The Coleman, AB native also played in 22 games this year with the Canucks where he scored a goal and two assists for three points and 41 penalty minutes. In his career, Rypien has appeared in 102 games with the Moose where he's scored 16 goals and 21 assists for 37 points and 234 penalty minutes. He has also played in 29 NHL games - all with Vancouver - where he's scored two goals and two assists for four points and 50 penalty minutes.
