Worcester Tornadoes News Release

WORCESTER, MA--- For the second time in a week, the Tornadoes came up big in the bottom of the ninth inning. This time it was Jeff LaHair providing the theatrical RBI's for the walk-off win, 6-5.

The evening began on a bad note for the Tornadoes when Jorge Moreno led off the game with a solo homer, sixth of the year, to take the one nothing lead. It got even worse when Maikel Jova picked up his league leading sixty-fourth RBI of the season to make it 2-0. The Tornadoes would tie the score in the third but Sussex kept coming against Chris Farley (5.2 IP, 5BB, 3K). After six innings of play the score stood at 5-3.

Thanks to some good bullpen work particularly of Chris Anderson who, with the help of a double play, faced just seven men through two and a third, Worcester trailed by just the two run margin in the bottom of the ninth.

Pitching for his first save, Greg Lane (1-2) got the first hitter out, and then gave up four hits and three runs. Chris Colabello singled home Mike MacMillan (who was pinch running for Nick Salotti's double) then Jeff LaHair singled with the bases loaded to claim the win. Eddie Pena (2-3) with a scoreless top of the ninth received the victory.
