August 24, 2009 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Sussex Skyhawks News Release

In the past month the Skyhawks have picked up two rookies right out of college. These players are infielder Jesse Fuller and catcher Ryan Boelsen. Both of these players were acquired in the past month after their predecessors were released. The Skyhawks picked up Boelsen in mid July, while Fuller joined the team two days ago.

Boelsen had and extremely successful senior year playing ball for Adelphi University. During his senior campaign he was able to have a batting average of .361 one of the highest on the team. Ryan was able to knock in 39 runs for his team on 66 hits and 13 doubles. During this period of time Boelsen hit a stunning .398 versus right handed pitching and had a .989 fielding percentage. These numbers during his senior year and throughout his college career earned Ryan spots on several conference teams. He was named to 2009 ABCA All-East Region Second Team, 2009 NCBWA All-East Region Second Team, First Team All-ECC, Second Team ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, and Second Team All-ECC.

Jesse Fuller was also a very successful college player. He played his college ball at Ferrum College in Virginia. In his senior year Jesse hit .345 with 23 rbis and had a .945 fielding percentage. Jesse was one of the best hitters for his team during his senior campaign by being in the top five in almost every single category. Also, Jesse had a .410 batting average within his conference. In the field Jesse was nothing short of amazing for Ferrum. As a starting infielder Jesse turned 21 double plays and only made 8 errors for the season. Throughout his career Jesse was a part of two USA South Championship teams and was named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team in 2007.

The Skyhawks will look to these two stand out recruits to help spark them through the end of the season and into next season.
