Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves offense hit a dry spell on Saturday night as the club could not win its fourth straight game, falling to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 8-2, at MerchantsAuto.Com Stadium. The Fisher Cats struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning against Erie starter Josh Rainwater. Brad Emaus drew a leadoff walk and stole second. With one out, Nick Gorneault singled homed Emaus for a 1-0 lead.

On a hit and run, Alex Avila singled to left, moving Strieby to third. With runners on the corners, Mike Hollimon popped out to right and it was not deep enough to bring the run home from third. Danny Worth followed and grounded to short, the Fisher Cats were only able to get the runner at second and Strieby scored, tying the game at 1-1.

The game would remain tied until the bottom of the seventh. Reliever Josh Kite, who had retired six straight and seven of eight coming into the inning, gave up a leadoff single to Brian Jeroloman. Luis Sanchez sacrificed Jeroloman to second, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position. Kite was then lifted for Zach Simons who gave up a single to Al Quintana and a walk to Brian Campbell, loading the bases for Brian Dopirak. Dopirak, the league leader in RBI, lined a single to right, passed a diving Worth at second, scoring Jeroloman, giving the Cats a 2-1 lead. Erie would go to the bullpen once more to summon lefty Ramon Garcia to face lefty Adam Calderone. Calderone lined a broken bat single to right, scoring a pair for a 4-1 New Hampshire lead. Later in the inning, Cody Hearther doubled home two more runs for a 6-1 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth, Garcia walked Campbell with two outs and gave up an opposite-field, two-run home run to Dopirak, his 16th, for an 8-1 lead.
