New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- Adam Calderone went 2-for-5 with a single, double, stolen base and a run scored, but the Binghamton Mets outlasted the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 4-2, in a 13-inning marathon that last 4 hours and 4 minutes Friday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Tied at 2-2 in the top of the 13th inning, Carl Loadenthal (1-for-4, SF, BB, R) and Josh Thole (4-for-6, R) strung together back-to-back singles off losing pitcher Edgar Estanga. Luis Sanchez committed a throwing error on pinch-hitter Josh Petersen's grounder off Zach Dials, allowing Loadenthal to score the go-ahead run for Binghamton (8-5). Dials walked pinch-hitter Lucas Duda with the bases loaded to force in Thole for a 4-2 lead.

Roy Merritt worked around a leadoff walk to Brian Jeroloman (1-for-4, 2B, 2 BB) to notch his Eastern League-leading seventh save in as many opportunities with a scoreless 13th inning.

New Hampshire (10-5) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against Ryan Coultas when Brad Emaus (0-for-5, BB, SB, R) walked, stole second base and scored on David Cooper's double-play ground out.

The Mets moved ahead, 2-1, in the top of the sixth inning against Rei Gonzalez. Matt Bouchard (1-for-6, R) singled and advanced to third when Chris Gutierrez committed a throwing error on Ruben Tejada's grounder. Emmanuel Garcia (2-for-6, RBI) plated Bouchard with a single, and Loadenthal brought in Tejada with a sacrifice fly.

The Fisher Cats scored the equalizer in the bottom of the seventh inning when Calderone singled, stole second base and slid in safely on an opposite-field single by Gutierrez (1-for-4, IW, RBI) off reliever John Madden, knotting the score, 2-2.

Five Mets' relievers combined for seven shutout innings, with Nick Abel (1-1) earning the win with one scoreless frame.

Estanga (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing two runs -one earned- on three hits and one walk in a season-high 2.2 innings. The left-hander fanned four.

The Fisher Cats and Mets play the third game of their four-game series on Saturday afternoon at 1:05pm when New Hampshire left-hander Fabio Castro (1-0, 0.00) will be opposed by Binghamton right-hander Eric Brown (1-0, 3.12).
