
Fisher Cats Blank Mets 4-0 Tuesday

(Binghamton, NY)---A. J. Jimenez tripled home two runs in a scoreless game in the top of the sixth inning and the Fisher Cats went on to a 4-0 win in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday night in Binghamton.
Chad Jenkins (2-2) worked five scoreless innings to pick up the win. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out three. Clint Everts (two scoreless) and Ron Uviedo finished up the shutout for New Hampshire (7-10).
The Fisher Cats broke through against Binghamton reliever Erik Turgeon (1-2) in the sixth. Brad Glenn led off with a double and John Tolisano walked. Jimenez (2-for-4) tripled into the gap in right centerfield. After Jonathan Diaz reached on an infield single, Brad McElroy (2-for-5) grounded into a fielders choice as Jimenez scored to make it 3-0.
Mike McDade added his first home run of the season, a solo shot in the ninth, to make it 4-0.
Zack Wheeler started for the Mets, working five scoreless innings, allowing three hits. Reliever Erik Turgeon (1-2) took the loss for Binghamton (9-8).
The series continues on Wednesday at 6:35pm at NYSEG Stadium. The Fisher Cats are expected to start RHP Deck McGuire (1-2, 5.94) against LHP Darin Gorski (2-0, 1.13). You can follow the action with Bob Lipman beginning at 6:15pm on WGIR Radio, AM 610 in Manchester..
