Fisher, BlueClaws Walk-Off Winners in 11th Inning

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Joel Fisher's game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning gave the BlueClaws a 7-6 win over West Virginia on Wednesday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws, who dropped a 5-2, 14-inning game to West Virginia on Tuesday, snapped a two-game losing streak and finished their homestand at 4-3.

Fisher's hit was the second walk-off hit for the BlueClaws this year, following Carlos Tocci on Opening Day in a win over Kannapolis. Fisher went 3-5 in the win.

West Virginia, trailing 5-3, took the lead with three runs off Austin Davis in the 7th inning, capped by a two-run home run by Michael Suchy, his second home run of the year.

The BlueClaws then tied the game in the bottom of the 7th inning on an RBI double by Herlis Rodriguez. Lakewood had runners at 2nd and 3rd and one out after the double, but couldn't re-take the lead. Lakewood then loaded the bases with one out in the 9th inning but against couldn't push the winning run across.

BlueClaws starter Ranfi Casimiro gave up three runs over six innings but got a no-decision. West Virginia starter Colten Brewer also allowed three runs in six innings and got a no-decision.

Scott Harris (three) and Joey DeNato (one) threw four scoreless innings for the BlueClaws, with DeNato earning the win to improve to 2-1 on the year.

Malquin Canelo, Cord Sandberg, Rhys Hoskins, Herlis Rodriguez, Fisher, and Gustavo Martinez all had multi-hit games for the BlueClaws, who tied their season-high with 15 hits.

The BlueClaws open a four-game series on Thursday night in Greensboro and will be back at FirstEnergy Park on Thursday, June 7th.
