Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (30-26-8 68 Points) defeated the Phoenix RoadRunners (26-32-4 56 Points) 1-0 in front of 3,344 fans Tuesday night at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' goalie Glenn Fisher made 36 saves, setting the team record for the longest shutout streak at 167:18 and becoming the first goalie in team history to record back-to-back shutouts. Defenseman Steve Makway scored the only goal of the game, as the Wranglers picked up their third straight win. Phoenix goalie Kyle Jones stopped 19 of 20 shots as the RoadRunners are now winless in their last seven games. Las Vegas will host the Ontario Reign Friday night at 7:30 PM.
After two scoreless periods, the Wranglers capitalized on the power play to take a 1-0 lead just 2:04 into the third period. Forward Adam Miller tossed a pass from behind the goal line up to defenseman Steve Makway, who ripped the puck past Phoenix goalie Kyle Jones for his second goal of the season.
Las Vegas goalie Glenn Fisher stopped all 36 shots faced and set two team records on the evening. Fisher became the first Wranglers goalie to record back-to-back shutouts, and now holds the longest scoreless streak at 167:18. Goalie Kevin Lalande held the previous shutout record with a streak of 112:43.
The Wranglers will host the Ontario Reign at 7:30 PM on Friday night at Orleans Arena. The Wranglers will also host the Alaska Aces on Saturday, March 21st at 7:30 PM. The first 2,000 fans receive a Wranglers trading card set, sponsored by Studio Blue.
