Lexington County Blowfish News Release
FLORENCE, S.C. -- The Blowfish were able to salvage a two game double header in Florence tonight after falling to the RedWolves in game one 16-0 they came back in game two to knock off Florence 3-1.
Everything went wrong for Lexington County in game one.
The Blowfish only mustered two hits in the game and RedWolves starter Jake Rudnicki (Ohio University) faced the minimum in a complete game shutout.
The Blowfish surrendered 15 hits and 7 errors in the game en route to the 16 run loss. Game two didn't start off great for Lexington County either.
Florence jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single from Nate Wierzagac (Lee University) that plated Reece Hampton (UNC Charlotte).
The Blowfish were without a hit until Chris Singleton (Charleston Southern) pushed a bunt single on the right side.
Adam Renwick (Clemson) strode in after the bunt single and on the first pitch the shortstop blasted a two run homer down the left field line that just hooked around the foul pole.
Lexington County got solid pitching out of Colie Bowers (South Carolina), Ryan Hedrick (Presbyterian), and Micah Carpenter (Georgia Tech) to shut down the RedWolves throughout the remainder of the game.
The Blowfish added another in the 7th on the Kyle Carruthers (UNC-Asheville) RBI single and set Florence down 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the inning to win game 2.
After Sunday off, Lexington County will continue their longest road trip of the year on Monday in Edenton. Coverage begins at 6:50 on z93.1 FM The Lake and first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
