Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

SALISBURY, MD - Behind stellar pitching, the Delmarva Shorebirds blanked the Lynchburg Hillcats 4-0 in six innings on Friday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in a rain-shortened contest.

The Shorebirds (16-6) have taken three of their first four against the Hillcats (14-8).

Delmarva managed to plate a run in the inning despite Hudson Haskin getting thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double to begin the inning. After Haskin was thrown out, Anthony Servideo rekindled the rally with a walk. After a flyout, Servideo advanced to second on a balk. Jordan Westburg capitalized on the miscue by lining a single to center to score Servideo and break the ice 1-0.

In the third, Haskin walked to begin the frame and then stole second. Servideo then legged out an infield single but Haskin was forced to stay at second on the play. After a fielder's choice put runners at the corners, Westburg brought home Servideo again with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 Delmarva.

Darell Hernaiz extended the lead to 3-0 as he belted a solo homer in the fifth, his second of the year.

To round off the scoring, Westburg continued his superb night by tripling in the sixth and then coming home to score on a wild pitch and bring the game to its final line of 4-0.

Leonardo Rodriguez (1-0) earned the win for Delmarva with a scoreless fifth. Rodriguez hit a batter while striking out two.

Jordan Jones (0-2) started for Lynchburg and absorbed the loss. Jones went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out two.

Jake Lyons picked up his first save of the year by firing a 1-2-3 sixth, striking out one.

Griffin McLarty started for Delmarva and reeled off four scoreless frames. The righty conceded just two hits, walking two and striking out five.

Westburg powered the Delmarva attack, going 2-for-2, driving in two while tripling for the first time this season. Servideo and Haskin each went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Lynchburg collected two hits, both singles, from Angel Martinez and Johnathan Rodriguez.

The Shorebirds look to claim a series victory as they host Lynchburg on Saturday, May 29, at Perdue Stadium. Ignacio Feliz (1-0, 1.54) goes for Delmarva while Lynchburg runs out Josh Wolf (0-1, 4.09). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with pregame coverage on Fox Sports 960 AM and MiLB.TV beginning at 6:50 with Sam Jellinek on the call.
