LOUISILLE, Ky.- The Toledo Mud Hens were defeated 6-1 by the Louisville Bats on Sunday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field.

After hitting a triple in the third inning, Kody Eaves came in to score for the Mud Hens (49-39) only run of the game. The Bats (35-50) used 15 hits to score six runs to avoid being swept by Toledo heading into the All-Star break.

Robson drew a walk to lead the Hens off in the first inning. Eaves then hit the ball softly up the first base line to move Robson over to second for the first out of the game. Grayson Greiner hit an infield single and Robson moved to third, but Toledo left two runners stranded and headed to the bottom half of the inning scoreless.

In the bottom of the second inning, Louisville used a double and single to put runners on the corners with one out. Blake Trahan then hit a single through the right side of the infield to give the Bats a 1-0 lead. A walk loaded the bases and a two-out single by Phillip Ervin brought in two runs increasing Louisville's lead to three runs.

Robson reached on an infield single with one out in the top of the third inning but was caught stealing for the second out of the inning. On the next pitch, Eaves roped a triple to deep right-center field. Jason Krizan then reached on an error by the second baseman and Eaves came in to score and give the Hens it's first run of the game.

Gabriel Guerrero led off the bottom half of the third with a solo shot to right field giving Louisville a 4-1 lead. Mud Hens pitcher Kyle Dowdy forced a double play to end the inning and escape further damage.

Dowdy's outing came to an end after three innings as Drew VerHagen came on in relief. Dowdy suffered four earned runs on nine hits while striking out three and walking one in three innings of work.

Junichi Tazawa came in to replace VerHagen in the fifth inning. VerHagen pitched one scoreless inning allowing one hit and fanning one. Tazawa delivered two scoreless innings allowing one hit and punching out three before handing the ball over to Paul Voelker.

Voelker delivered a scoreless seventh inning and came back out for the eighth. Louisville used three consecutive hits to score a run and then plated a second run with one out in the inning. Hunter Cervenka came out of the Hen pen in relief of Voelker. Voelker delivered one and one third innings allowing two earned runs on four hits and striking out two batters. Cervenka was able to get out of the inning without allowing another run. In two thirds innings of work, Cervenka did not allow a hit, run or walk. After eight innings, the Bats held a 6-1 advantage.

Edwin Espinal led off the ninth inning with a walk but was retired on a fielder's choice by Harold Castro. Robson reached on a walk with two outs but the two Hens runners were left stranded.

What's Next:

The Mud Hens will take a three-day break for All-Star festivities in Columbus before returning to action on Thursday for a 7:05 game in Indianapolis verse the Indians.

- Triple-A Baseball on Friday announced DH Chad Huffman will participate in the 2018 Triple-A Home Run Derby on July 9 at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.

- The last time Toledo has scored 10 or more runs was on May 30 at Syracuse.

- The last time the Mud Hens swept a team was May 15 through May 17 at Charlotte.
