Chiefs Shutout Herd in Pre-All-Star Break Finale

Buffalo, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs won the final game before the All-Star break, beating the Buffalo Bisons, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Field.

Syracuse (37-51) started the scoring in the second inning. Yadiel Hernandez and Chris Dominguez each singled to start the inning. After two strikeouts, Jaff Decker, in his first game off the Disabled List, launched a single to right field to score Hernandez and give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Adrian Sanchez singled to left, stole second base and moved to third when Reese McGuire's throw sailed into center field. Sanchez scored on Jose Marmolejos' double to right-center to give Syracuse a 2-0 lead.

The Chiefs would cap the scoring in the ninth. Decker walked and Bengie Gonzalez ripped a double down the third-base line, and Decker scored from first for a 3-0 lead.

Buffalo (40-42) was held off the board by Tommy Milone, Austin Adams, Josh Edgin and Wander Suero. It makred the Chiefs first shutout since June 6th at Charlotte.

Syracuse will start its post-All-Star break potion of the schedule on Thursday, July 12th at McCoy Stadium against the Pawtucket Red Sox, at 7:05 p.m.
