
First-Place North Carolina Courage Look to Extend Undefeated Streak

Cary, N.C. - The North Carolina Courage (6W-2L-4D) will travel to SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday, July 21 to play the Chicago Red Stars. The NC Courage will look to hold on to their first-place ranking in the NWSL and their five-game undefeated streak. The team heads into the match leading the NWSL in goals, assists, goal differential, shots, and shots on goal.
This highly anticipated match will be televised on ESPN 2 as 14 players between the two teams participated in the FIFA Women's World Cup. The Courage and Red Stars have already faced off twice this season, one match ending in a draw and the other with a 3-1 Red Stars win.
The North Carolina Courage are coming off of a 2-0 win against Reign FC on Saturday, July 13. Lynn Williams scored the first goal of the match in the 22nd minute after Kristen Hamilton played the perfect ball to her feet. The goal was Williams' fifth of the season. Debinha scored the second goal of the night in the 55th minute. The Brazilian dove forward to send an arching cross from Merritt Mathias into the back of the net.
Mathias, Williams, and Jaelene Hinkle each have four assists on the season and are tied with two others for the most assists in the NWSL in 2019.
The Chicago Red Stars are coming into this match fresh off of a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dash. Within the first ten minutes of the game, Katie Johnston was able to give the Red Stars the goal that would ultimately give them the win.

North Carolina Courage- #10 Debinha
Since returning from representing her home country of Brazil in the World Cup, Debinha has been consistent for the Courage, having two goals and one assist during the last three games. She has made seven appearances this season for a total of 556 minutes. Debinha will be looking to continue her success into the match against the Red Stars.
Chicago Red Stars- #20 Sam Kerr
The captain of the Australian National Team was able to score a hat trick in her returning game from the World Cup a little under a month ago. Kerr leads the NWSL in goals with nine on the season. She has played in nine games for the Red Stars this year for 810 minutes total.
