First Place Grizzlies Shutout ThunderBolts for Series Sweep

CRESTWOOD, IL - Grizzlies right-hander Alex Kaminsky didn't allow a run for the third straight start and Gateway recorded their seventh sweep of the season with a 1-0 win against the Windy City ThunderBolts at Standard Bank Stadium Thursday night.

Kaminsky (10-4) tossed six and a third scoreless innings, while allowing only three hits. The 24-year-old from Fostoria, OH struck out seven batters. He hasn't allowed a run since August 5th, which was four starts ago.

Richard Barrett picked up his 16th save by working a one-two-three ninth inning against Windy City (49-38). Gateway's bullpen threw nine and two thirds scoreless innings during the series.

The shutout was the ninth this season for the Grizzlies, which is a franchise record. With the win, Gateway (51-36) moved two games ahead of Windy City and Schaumburg in the Frontier League West Division.

Chris McClendon brought in the only run of the game on a sixth inning sacrifice fly.

The two team's combined for six hits with Jonathan Johnson, Landon Hernandez and Antone DeJesus picking up the Grizzlies hits.

The win was Grizzlies manager Phil Warren's 299th career managerial win.

The first place Grizzlies head back home for a three-game weekend series with the Normal CornBelters. Right-hander Tim Brown (10-2) makes the start for the Grizzlies Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 CT.
