Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, N.J. -After sweeping the previous home series against the Delmarva Shorebirds, the BlueClaws will welcome the West Virginia Power to FirstEnergy Park for a four game series starting Tuesday night. The Power are the single-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The BlueClaws are currently in first place in the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League but the Power are not far behind. Gates open early on Tuesday so that fans can meet the players and get autographs from their favorite BlueClaws thanks to Sawyer's Buy-Rite. Fans will be allowed into FirstEnergy Park beginning at 5:30 and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05. Every Tuesday is Baseball Bingo night at FirstEnergy Park brought to you by Ikko Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar.
The BlueClaws along with the Asbury Park Press and Club Cool will be giving out oversized baseball cards to the first 2,000 fans to Wednesday's ballgame. A special matinee edition of BlueClaws baseball will begin at 11:05 a.m.
The series continues Thursday evening at 7:05 and the mascot team, the ZOOperstars, with such characters as Harry Canary and Snail Earnhardt Jr., will be entertaining the crowd all evening long. The first 2,000 fans over the age of 18 will receive an instant lottery ticket courtesy of the New Jersey Lottery.
Friday's 7:05 game will be the conclusion of the Lakewood's home stand. Following the game, just like every Friday home game, fans will be treated to a fireworks show presented by Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood. Following Friday, the BlueClaws will be on the road for over a week and will return July 24.
In 2005, the Lakewood BlueClaws were the recipients of Baseball America's Bob Freitas award for overall excellence in Minor League Baseball. The BlueClaws have led the league in attendance every year, topping out at 444,607 in 2005 and became the fastest team in South Atlantic League history to reach the 2 million fan attendance mark.
