Roster Moves Get Catfish Back to 25

Columbus, GA - In a flurry of roster moves C Juan Apodaca and RHP John Meloan have been promoted from the Columbus Catfish (Low-A) to the Vero Beach Dodgers (Advanced-A). Because the Catfish had 24 players on the roster they were able to add three players, RHP Nathan Hochgesang, C Conor McGeehan and RHP Giuseppe Norrito.

Apodaca batted .249 and drove in 22 runs in 55 games with the Catfish this season. From May 31 to June 24 he put together a 13-game hitting streak. The Caracas, Venezuela native was signed by the Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent on February 28, 2003.

In 23 1/3 innings out of the bullpen Meloan posted a 1-1 record and a 1.54 ERA. He struck out 41 batters and allowed just nine hits and seven walks. Meloan was born in Houston, Texas and attended the University of Arizona. The Dodgers picked him in the fifth round of the 2005 draft.

Hochgesang returns to Columbus after six games with the Catfish in 2005, when he went 1-0 with a 6.62 ERA. Originally from Bellflower, California, he went to Golden West Community College and California State University Northridge. This season Hochgesang had a record of 2-0 and an ERA of 5.79 in 9 1/3 innings with the Ogden Raptors (R).

McGeehan signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in June as a non-drafted free agent. He was born in Lebanon, Ohio and attended Northern Kentucky University. This season he batted .302 with 28 RBI, 32 runs and 16 stolen bases in 60 starts for the Norse, who won the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship.

Norrito was selected by the Dodgers in the 48th round of the 2004 draft. He was born in Sacramento, California and went to Miami-Dade Community College and Nova Southeastern Univeristy (FL). This season Norrito posted a 1.17 ERA in 7 2/3 innings with Ogden.

Saturday the Catfish begin a three-game series with the Rome Braves. Gates will open at 6:00pm before first pitch at 7:00pm.
