ABOUT LAST GAME: In front of an energetic crowd of 6,282 fans on Wednesday afternoon, the Fireflies pounded the Legends, 9-1. Columbia snapped its five-game losing streak and climbed back to .500 on the season at 13-13. Starter Marcel Renteria logged a Fireflies-season best 7.2 innings and picked up his second win of the year.
RECORD CROWD: The crowd of 6,282 was a record for a Palmetto Health Children's Hospital Reading Program Day. The program has expanded to 173 schools and nearly 67,000 students in just three years.
DOMINATION: Wednesday's final score featured the largest margin of victory of the year. The nine runs on Wed. were also a season-high.
DOMINATION, Pt. II: Columbia has now scored five or more runs in 16 of its 26 games. Only the Delmarva Shorebirds have scored more runs this season than the Fireflies.
GOING YARD: Columbia's big innings on Wednesday were the fourth and fifth frames when the Fireflies scored seven total runs. Matt Winaker blasted a solo home run in that fourth, the first of his professional career (in 45 games). Winaker hit the home run off of Collin Snider, a friend and former teammate will playing in the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2016 (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox).
THE STREAK: Jeremy Vasquez reached base three times on Wednesday and has now reached base safely in 25 straight games - tied for the second-longest active streak in all of pro baseball (MLB & MiLB).

Vasquez leads the league in on-base percentage (.467) and walks (21) and is fourth in the SAL in batting average (.341).
CHEERS: Vasquez was named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for April 23-29. The lefty slugger hit .360 (9-for-25) with five extra-base hits (3 2Bs, 1 3B, 1 HR), four RBI, five runs scored and two walks.
