ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia dropped the second game of the series to Hickory, 5-2. Both starters delivered: Alex Eubanks and Tony Dibrell each pitched into the seventh frames and each struck out eight. Dibrell allowed just 2 ERs in 6.1 IP & has now fanned 6 or more hitters in all 6 of his starts.

WALK THIS WAY: Three Fireflies rank among the top four in the league in walks. Blake Tiberi drew his South Atlantic League-best 25th walk on Thursday. Tiberi and Jeremy Vasquez (23) are first and second in the league and also in the Mets minor league system. Matt Winaker ranks fourth in the SAL with 20 walks. As a team, Columbia leads the league with 141 walks.

THE BRO-WONDER: Columbia centerfielder Quinn Brodey doubled twice on Thursday after ripping a two-bagger on Wednesday at L.P. Frans Stadium. Brodey now leads the league with 24 RBIs and 16 extra-base hits (8 doubles, 3 triples, 5 home runs). The former Stanford Cardinal has also scored a run in seven straight games

THE NEW STREAK: Catcher Scott Manea doubled and homered on Wednesday. The Massachusetts native has reached safely in 14 straight games and owns an absurd .509 on-base percentage during that stretch (since April 21). That includes 10 hits, 10 walks and 7 HBPs.

THE STREAK, Pt. II: Catcher Ali Sanchez has tallied an RBI in three straight games.

THE OTHER GUYS: Hickory has five top-30 Rangers prospects on its roster, including Friday's scheduled starter, A.J. Alexy:

6. OF, Bubba Thompson 23. RHP, Alex Speas

17. RHP, A.J. Alexy 26. C, Sam Huff

18. OF, Miguel Aparicio

WELCOME TO THE BIGS: On Monday, 2016 Firefly and Mets Minor League Pitcher of the Year P.J. Conlon made his Major League debut for New York. The southpaw started against the Reds in Cincinnati and logged 3.2 innings. Conlon struck out a batter, scattered four hits and even recorded a base hit of his own in his second at-bat. The 24-year-old is the second Firefly to reach the majors (see bottom right corner of page) in a matter of three weeks.
