Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

With mother nature interrupting the third game of the series a couple times in Greenville at Flour Field, the Kannapolis Intimidators (22-12) dropped Friday night's matchup 6-4, allowing three late runs to give the Drive (9-25) their ninth win of the season.

John Parke got the start for Kannapolis in Game 3 of the series, walking the first batter of the game on five pitches. After getting a groundout that sent Lorenzo Cedrola to second, Marino Campana tripled on a fly ball to center field, scoring Cedrola for the game's first run. With Campana at third and Victor Acosta at the plate, the right fielder hit a sacrifice fly to center field, giving the Drive a 2-0 lead after one inning.

In the second, Tate Blackman got plunked by a 1-2 pitch, as the Kannapolis second baseman gingerly walked his way to first base, causing a scare to the Intimidators fans. After a Justin Yurchak pop out that led to the second out of the inning, Evan Skoug reached on a fielding error by third baseman EverlouisLozada, loading the bases for Carlos Perez.

The Venezuelan catcher sent the fourth pitch of his at-bat right back where it came from, scoring Blackman and Skoug to tie the game, 2-2. With mother nature already pushing the game time back a few minutes, another weather delay came to Flour Field, leading to a few Kannapolis changes after the short delay.

After a 1,2,3 inning for both Yosmer Solorzano, who came in replace of Parke after the delay, and Denyi Reyes in the third, Jagger Rusconi smacked a 2-1 pitch that soared over the right field wall, giving a one-run edge to the Drive.

Fast forward a couple innings in the sixth, Kannapolis' Craig Dedelow laid into the second pitch of his at-bat with Juan Florentino (W, 3-0) Here's how the Intimidators will line up behind John Parke tonight in Greenville!, sending the ball 448 feet over the right field wall, tying the game, 3-3.

With newly acquired Cameron Seitzer (L, 0-1) on the mound for Kannapolis, the righty gave up three straight hits to the Drive, capped off by a Samuel Miranda double that scored Ricardo Cubillan to give the Drive a two-run lead after seven complete.

In the eighth and down by one, the Kannapolis Intimidators used a leadoff homer (6) from Tyler Frost to right field to cut the lead to one, leading to a pitching change for Greenville. But in the bottom half of the inning, the Drive capitalized on a Dedelowerror in left field to add on another insurance run to push the lead to two, 6-4.

The Intimidators will travel to Asheville to take on the Tourists for a four-game series starting Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
