Firebirds Make First Visit to Bayshore
September 30, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack are set to host the Flint Firebirds in a Wednesday night meeting that will be the first ever game between the two franchises. When puck drops at 7:00pm at the Bayshore on Sept. 30, the Attack and Firebirds will both be putting their unbeaten records on the line.
Owen Sound stormed out to a perfect two-and-oh opening weekend with overtime victories over Kitchener on Friday, Sept. 25 and Guelph on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The Attack were bolstered by newly acquired forward Bryson Cianfrone in Friday's win over the Rangers, while goaltender Michael McNiven and forward Jaden Lindo led Owen Sound to the two points in Saturday's home opener. Flint got off to a hot start in the franchise's first game, defeating the Saginaw Spirit by a score of 3-0 on the OHL's Opening Night. They then followed that up with a 3-2 shootout victory over those same Spirit on Saturday evening to push the Firebirds to a perfect early season record as well.
Both the Attack and Firebirds are led into Wedneday's game by players who have posted three points so far in the season, with Owen Sound being paced by Josh Sterk and Bryson Cianfrone while Flint is led by the trio of Will Bitten, Mathieu Henderson, and Vili Saarijarvi.
The Attack will then play their 3rd straight home game when they square off with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Saturday night.
The first meeting of the season between the inter-division rivals goes at 7:30 pm at the Bayshore and will be the Hounds' second game in as many nights, as they take on the Guelph Storm in Guelph on Friday.
Sault Ste. Marie has started the year by taking three out of a possible four points. The Greyhounds lost in overtime to Windsor on Friday, Sept. 25 before defeating the Niagara IceDogs 3-1 the following night.
Tickets for both of the Attack's game this week, and all remaining home games can be purchased at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
