
FireAntz Steve Roberts Named Player of the Week

[Fayetteville, N.C.]â The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that Fayetteville FireAntz forward Steve Roberts has been named the "Sherwood Player of the Week."
Roberts, a 5'11'', 190 pound winger out of Victoria, B.C. led the way for the FireAntz over a 3-game stretch in which he tallied 10 points (6G, 4A) in three victories.
On Friday the FireAntz hosted the Columbus Cottonmouths and Roberts had an SPHL record 5 goals in the club's 9-2 victory.
Saturday the FireAntz traveled to league-leading Knoxville and had an assist as well as a shootout goal that led to the FireAntz victory over the Ice Bears.
On Tuesday the FireAntz returned home to take on the Huntsville Havoc and Roberts again sparked the FireAntz to victory with a goal and three assists in the 6-2 win.
Roberts, the 6th leading scorer in the SPHL, now has 50 points on the season (29G, 21A) in 39 games played. His 29 goals ties him for second in the league with K.J. Voorhees of Knoxville. They are only one behind league-leader Kevin Swider of Knoxville. His 5 game-winning goals ties him for 1st in the SPHL. Roberts currently has an 8-game point scoring streak in which he has 18 points.
"This is not individual recognition, this is a team award." Steve Roberts said, "Everyone has been playing great lately. There are four or five guys on this team that could have won the award this week."
The FireAntz next home games are Friday, February 18th, and Saturday, February 19th. Both games begin at 7:35 pm. Great seats remain for both games. Call the FireAntz office at (910) 321-0123 for more information.
