Winston-Salem Polar Twins News Release

[WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.] – Winston-Salem Polar Twins Head Coach Bryan Wells announced today that forward Brett Cross and defenseman Billy Rochefort will suit up for the Richmond Riverdogs of the United Hockey League for tonight's contest with the Danbury Thrashers at Richmond Coliseum. Also announced today was the release of forward Richard Gustafsson.

Cross has played in 22 games this season for the Polar Twins, missing 20 contests with a broken ankle suffered back on November 5. In the games he has played, the Woseley, Saskatchewan native has tallied 24 points (14 goals, 10 assists), good for fifth in team scoring. Cross has also tallied two shorthanded goals this season to lead the Twins in that category. For the 6'2", 195-pound winger it will be his second Riverdogs game of the season, with the first coming back on January 8.

Also heading to Richmond is 6'3", 218-pound Rochefort, who joined the Twins lineup on January 20 following a trade with Jacksonville. The Stratford, Ontario native has been a solid defensive addition for the Polar Twins since his acquisition and has also contributed one goal in seven games. While with Jacksonville, Rochefort tallied 10 points (1G, 9A) in 32 games and held a +7 rating.

Released today was forward Richard Gustafsson who is one of only two players to play in all 42 games for Winston-Salem this season. In that span, the Stockholm, Sweden native tallied 16 points (5G, 11A) and was a -33.

The Polar Twins will be on the road this weekend with stops in Columbus and Jacksonville before returning home next weekend for two. February 18 the Twins will once again take on Jacksonville in the second half of the home-and-home series. It will also be Country Music Night with special giveaways by WFMX 105.7. February 19 Winston-Salem will face off against Asheville while wearing special throwback jerseys that will be sold at a live auction immediately following the game. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
