FAYETTEVILLE, NC-- IntheCrease.com and Just Hockey announced their 2002-2003 awards for the Atlantic Coast Hockey League (ACHL). Among the players honored with awards were the FireAntz Aaron Shrieves and Matt Kohansky.

Winger Shrieves was the inaugural recipient of the 110-percent award, which is awarded to the player that works the hardest all the time. As the Nelson, BC native approaches the end of the season, he has appeared in 50 games for the Antz registering 33 points (21G, 12A). This was his first professional season in North America.

"I have always worked hard my whole life I felt," said Shrieves, "I guess all the work I have done has paid off. It is always nice to win an award by working hard. I just come to the rink every night and do the most I can for my team."

Another FireAntz player received an honorable mention from the two outlets. Cape Fear's Matt Kohansky was third in the ACHL Rookie of the Year voting behind winner Louis Goulet of Orlando and runner-up Geoffrey Faulkner of Macon.

Kohansky is second among all rookies in scoring in the ACHL. The Norfolk, MA native currently has 60 points (23G, 37A) in his 49 games played.

Both of the players will be honored for their feats at the FireAntz next home game on Wednesday, March 12. The FireAntz will host their in-state rival Winston-Salem Parrots with the puck drop at 7:35 p.m.
