Fightins sink RubberDucks for series lead

The Reading Fightin Phils (44-60) bounced back from last night's game in big-time fashion as they defeated the Akron RubberDucks (58-50) 6-3. Reading recorded nine hits and Hoby Milner earned his sixth win of the season by only allowing one run. KC Serna hit his first Double-A home run.

Bryan LaHair hit is second triple of the season to score Erik Gonzalez and give the RubberDucks a 1-0 lead off Hoby Milner in the top of the 3rd inning. KC Serna hit his first home run of the season off Joseph Colon in the bottom of the 3rd inning to tie the game at 1-1.

Jake Fox broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the 4th inning off Colon as he hit a RBI single to score Carlos Alonso, who walked to begin the inning to give Reading a 2-1 lead. Reading exploded off Colon in the bottom of the 5th inning to take a 6-1 lead as Logan Moore, Jake Fox and Kelly Dugan hit RBI doubles. Dugan's double was a two-run hit as Albert Cartwright and Carlos Alonso scored on the play.

Tim Fedroff hit a two-run double off reliever Seth Rosin in the top of the 7th inning to cut the Fightin Phils lead in half 6-3. Rosin walked Alex Lavisky and Ronny Rodriguez in consecutive at-bats to begin the inning.

Hoby Milner (6-5) earns his sixth win as he pitched six innings and allowing just one run off four hits and three walks. Seth Rosin allowed two runs in the top of the 7th inning and Nefi Ogando pitched a scoreless top of the 8th inning. Colton Murray earned his first save of the season as he retired the side in the top of the 9th inning.

The Fightin Phils and Akron RubberDucks wrap up their season series tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1:35 pm from FirstEnergy Stadium.
