owie, Md. - The Baysox (54-53) surrendered a season-high 21 hits in an 11-0 loss to Altoona (43-65) Saturday night. The loss was the Baysox worst shutout defeat of the season and came one-run shy of matching the Baysox 16-4 loss May 29 against Akron as the largest deficit of the season.

Altoona jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning against Baysox starter Matt Bischoff. Alen Hanson hit a lead off double to right field and scored on a Drew Maggi ground-rule double to left-center field. With one out, Elias Diaz brought Maggi home from third base with a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Curve a 2-0 lead.

The Curve added to the lead in the top of the second inning. Willy Garcia hit a lead off double to left field and moved to third base on an Andy Vasquez sacrifice bunt before scoring on a Hanson two-out single to left field to make the score 3-0.

Altoona kept the runs coming in the top of the third inning. The first two batters of the inning singled to reach base and Dan Gamache then brought them both home with a one-out double to center field. Garcia followed with another double to left field that plated Gamache before Jake Pettit replaced Bischoff on the mound. With two-outs, Gift Ngoepe singled to left field to bring Garcia home and give the Curve a 7-0 lead.

The Curve extended the lead again in the top of the fourth inning. Josh Bell hit a one-out double to left field and moved to third base on a Stetson Allie single to right field before scoring on a Diaz double to left field. Gamache brought the second run of the inning home on a groundout and Garcia put the Curve up 10-0 with an RBI single to right field.

Altoona struck again in the top of the seventh inning against reliever Mychal Givens. With two outs and a runner on first base, Allie drew a walk and both runners advanced on a wild pitch before a Diaz RBI single put the Curve up 11-0.

Bischoff pitched two and one-third innings and allowed seven runs on eight hits while walking one in the loss. Pettit pitched three and two-thirds innings and allowed three runs on eight hits while striking out three. Givens pitched two innings and allowed one run on three hits while striking out two and walking one. Reliever Marcel Prado pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Baysox, allowing two hits.

Altoona starter Zack Dodson earned the win, pitching seven shutout innings and allowing three hits while striking out four.

LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (3-6, 4.69) takes the mound for the Baysox Sunday as the team plays the final game in a four game home series with the Altoona Curve. He will be opposed by RHP Pat Ludwig (1-4, 6.43).

The Baysox are home through Sunday, July 27 for a seven-game homestand that includes games against the Harrisburg Senators and Altoona Curve. Promotional highlights include a Tribute to Jimmy Fallon Sunday, July 27 at 6:05 p.m.
