LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets used a strong start by Greg Peavey to top the Trenton Thunder on Friday night at Arm & Hammer Park.. Peavey struck out seven batters in eight innings and allowed just one run. Darrell Ceciliani went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. He also stole two bases in the win. Jayce Boyd hit his fifth home run of the season in the sixth inning. Brian Burgamy and T.J. Rivera each tallied two hits. Jon Velasquez struck out the side in the scoreless ninth to seal the victory. Dilson Herrera saw his season-high 12-game hitting streak come to an end.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Gabriel Ynoa toes the rubber for the fifth time this season and the first against Trenton. Ynoa didn't factor into the decision in his last outing He tossed 5.2 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits in a 6-4 Binghamton loss to Portland on Monday, July 21. The La Vega, Dominican Republic native has gone at least 5.1 frames in every outing and has 17 strikeouts in his last 18.1 innings pitched. He hasn't walked a batter in his last three starts. The 21-year-old was singed by the Mets as a free agent on November 19, 2009.
TRENTON STARTER: RHP Jaron Long makes his fourth start of the season with the Thunder and first against Binghamton. The Scottsdale, Arizona native is coming off a win in his last outing. He allowed just one run in six innings and struck out four in a 4-1 Trenton victory on Monday, July 21. Long has earned the win in all three of his starts with Trenton. He has walked just one batter in 18 innings this season. He's given up one run in each of his last two starts. He spent the first part of the season splitting time between Charleston (Low-A) and Tampa (High-A). He went 5-3 in 17 games between those two squads. He was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on August 1, 2013.
PEAVEY KEEPS ROLLING: Greg Peavey dominated the Thunder for the second straight start on Thursday. In two outings against Trenton, he has struck out 14 batters in 15 innings and has allowed a total of two runs. The righty improves to 8-1 with Binghamton and leads the team in wins. He hasn't given up more than one run in any of his last four starts with the B-Mets
THAT'S TRIPLE DIGITS: Jayce Boyd's sixth inning solo home run was the 100th of the season for Binghamton. The team leads the league in that category with seven more than any other team in the league. Six teams don't have as many as 80 long balls. Three current B-Mets have at least 12 home runs. Every position player on the roster and one pitcher have gone yard. The pitcher was Tyler Pill on June 19 against Richmond. 33 of those home runs have come in this month alone.
CECILIANI SWIPES: Binghamton OF Darrell Ceciliani stole two bases in Thursday's win. That's the most by any B-Met player in a game this season. He leads the team in that category with 12 on the season. The team finished the game tying a season high with three stolen bags. Binghamton ranks second to last in the league in swiped bases with 57 on the year. Trenton is right in front of them at 60
KEEPING THEM IN IT: Greg Peavey's eight inning outing on Thursday marked the 22nd straight game that a B-Met starter has gone at least five frames. That's every game, but one in the month of July.
CONTROLING THE LEADERBOARD: The B-Mets dominate the offensive numbers on the team leaderboard. The squad leads the league in home runs (99) and slugging percentage (.426). They are tied for first in runs with 540. Binghamton is also third in average with a .274 mark on the year.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: Binghamton wraps up their seven-game road trip on Sunday at 1:05 PM against Trenton. RHP Rainy Lara goes for the B-Mets and while LHP Manny Banuelos is on the mound for the Thunder.
