Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

MIDDLETON, WI - The Dubuque Fighting Saints (15-6-1-2, 33 pts) fell 6-2 to the Madison Capitols (11-6-4-2, 28 pts) despite a strong start on Saturday night.

The Fighting Saints' power play carried over its momentum from Friday's win into Saturday's game, scoring on its first chance of the night. Noah Powell opened the scoring on the man advantage with his seventh of the season early in the first. Lucas St. Louis and Juraj Pekarcik each assisted on the goal. Pekarcik is now tied for the league lead with 22 assists and tied for second in the USHL with 27 points.

After a Madison goal tied the game, Colin Frank scored his second in as many nights to put the Saints on top 2-1 after the first period.

Madison then took control of the game the rest of the way, scoring the next five goals. The Caps scored twice in the second period and three times in the third, including twice in the first 4:10 of the final frame.

Kevin Reidler made 26 more saves for the Saints in his second-straight start. The Fighting Saints' power play ended the night one-for-three and their offense couldn't muster much after the first period.

The Saints had 10 first-period shots, but had just 14 the rest of the way.

Dubuque is back in action on Thursday night when they host the Sioux City Musketeers.
