Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

SIOUX FALLS, SD - It was a big night for personal achievements for the Muskegon Lumberjacks (13-9-1-1, 28 pts.) on Saturday night as Ty Henricks (Mission Viejo, CA) recorded his first career hattrick and Beau Lane (Pembroke, MA) earned his first career USHL win against the Sioux Falls Stampede (13-10-1-1, 28 pts.)

Lumberjacks forward Jack Galanek (Hopkinton, MA) opened the scoring 11:37 into the first period. Fellow Shattuck St. Mary's alum Hunter Anderson (Manhattan Beach, CA) sent the puck to the far side of the ice on the zone entry for Galanek to receive. Using a spin move to get away from the defenseman Galanek turned and fired a shot back towards the near side of the goal for his seventh goal of the season, and a 1-0 Jacks lead.

In the final minute of the frame Sioux Falls tied the game 1-1. JJ Wiebusch crashed towards the net to find a rebound just outside of the crease. While working across the crease Wiebusch corralled the puck and slid it past the outstretched pad into the back of the net.

Only one goal came in the second period and it belonged to the Lumberjacks. Cooper Pierson (Zionsville, IN) won a faceoff back to Xavier Veilleux (L'Anceinne-Lorrette, QC, CAN) on the near side of the offensive zone. Veilleux tapped the puck to Anderson who fired a shot on net. Henricks was positioned to redirect the shot to the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season, and to regain the lead 2-1 for Muskegon.

The third period brought four goals for Muskegon including two more for Henricks. First, at the 8:56 mark Veilleux carried the puck into the offensive zone and around the back wall before sending a pass to the slot for Matvei Gridin (Kurgan, RUS.) The 2006 birthyear sent a shot on net that was blocked by Henricks, but found in the slot by the New Yor Rangers draft pick and tapped to the back of the net. Just under two minutes later Henricks scored again. This time by winning a puck battle in the neutral zone and working his way in on net.

Muskegon added another goal at the 13:02 mark of the third period while shorthanded. Sacha Boisvert (Trois-Rivieres, QC, CAN) forced a turnover at the top of the Jack's zone and sent a pass behind the defense to David Klee (Castle Rock, CO). Klee went forehand, backhand before roofing the puck to make it 5-1 Muskegon.

A late goal from Jaksen Panzer brought the Stampede back to within three, but Cody Croal (North Branch, MN) finished an empty net opportunity for the eventual final score of 6-2.

Lane (1-0-0-0) started and finished the game for the Lumberjacks in his USHL debut making 30 saves on 32 shots for his first career win. Jan Kasal (0-1-0-0) also made his USHL debut in net for the Stampede, and made 26 saves on 31 shots against in the loss.
