
Fernandez Tosses Complete Game as Zephyrs Defeat RedHawks

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma -- Jared Fernandez spun a four-hit complete game to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs past the Oklahoma RedHawks, 5-1 on Monday Night in Oklahoma City.
Fernandez (6-10), who leads the Pacific Coast League in innings pitched (156), allowed one run, struck out five and walked none to finish his second complete game this season. Dave Matranga, who scored two runs, led off the game with a double and reached home on a sacrifice fly by Tripp Cromer to give New Orleans an early 1-0 lead. Raul Chavez hit a pair of doubles for the Zephyrs, who have won three straight.
Jermaine Clark tripled and scored the lone run for Oklahoma, which has dropped four of its last five games. Ryan Snare (2-1) surrendered four runs, 10 hits and two walks over six innings to take the loss.
The Zephyrs will begin a four game series against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in Colorado Springs on Tuesday at 8:05 PM. Bob Scanlan (0-4, 3.64) is scheduled to start for the Zephyrs and Jason Young (5-5, 3.69) for the Sky Sox. The Z's are 5-3 on the current 12 game road trip and trail Nashville by five games in the PCL Eastern Division.
