
Sidewinders Let One Slip Away in Memphis

Memphis scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth innings Tuesday night to come from behind and defeat Tucson 3-2 at Auto Zone Park. The loss ended the Sidewinders five-game winning streak.
Tucson scored a run in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Chad Tracy to tie the game at 1. The Sidewinders jumped ahead 2-1 in the seventh when Luis Terrero doubled and scored on a single from Brian Gordon.
Mike Gosling allowed just five hits and one run in 6.2 innings and was in line for his tenth win of the season. Mike Koplove came out of the bullpen in the eighth and walked John Gall. Scott Seabol followed with a double through the legs of Chad Tracy that scored Gall from first to tie the game. With one out Dee Haynes reached on an error by shortstop Tim Olson that gave the Redbirds the final 3-2 margin.
The win enabled Memphis to claim its 12th straight victory at Auto Zone Park.. The Sidewinders failed to win for the sixth straight game on a day that featured a 4:30 a.m. wakeup call. The team arrived in Memphis in time to get to the ballpark at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. game.
Tucson fell to 56-55. Tucson and Memphis will meet again Wednesday night at 5:05 p.m. (Tucson time) at Auto Zone Park. The game will be tape delayed on AM 990 KTKT at 6:00 p.m. Edgar Gonzalez (7-3 3.96) will start for Tucson against the Redbirds Clint Weibl (2-3 3.75).
