BOISE, Idaho - The Everett AquaSox (12-8, 39-19) held the Boise Hawks (7-13, 26-32) to five hits and just one run in a 7-1 victory Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium in Boise, Idaho.

Anthony Fernandez

(6-3, 2.98 ERA) moved into the team lead with his sixth victory, tossing 6.0 innings and allowing three hits while striking out four. Fernandez has not walked a batter in his last three outings (16.2 IP).

Robbie Anston

tied a season high with four hits, going 4-for-5 with a double and one RBI.

Kevin Mailloux

went 2-for-5 with two RBI to extend his hitting streak to 12 games and

Steven Baron

went 3-for-4 with a RBI.

The Sox scored first for the first time in the series on an Anston RBI-double in the third inning. Mailloux was the catalyst in the fourth, leading off with a single through the middle and stealing second base to put himself in scoring position with one out.

Hawkins Gebbers

drove home the run with a base knock to center.

Ryan Royster

doubled in

Anthony Phillips

to begin a three-run fifth inning, followed by a Mailloux two-run double to put the Frogs up 5-0 after five.

Left-hander

Bennett Whitmore

relieved Fernandez after six innings and tossed a scoreless frame in his third outing since joining the Sox Aug. 8.

Right-hander

Taylor Lewis, who joined the Sox Monday from the Clinton LumberKings, allowed the sole Hawks run to cross the plate in the ninth. Lewis made five starts for the Sox in 2009 and had appeared in 20 games for the Single-A LumberKings this season.

The Sox tacked on two unearned runs in the eighth inning on an error by first baseman Richard Jones and a run-scoring hit by Baron to account for the seven-run total.

Catcher Micah Gibbs and Jones had two hits apiece to lead the Hawks. Matthew Loosen (1-2, 4.39 ERA) took the loss for his four-inning start.

The rubber game of the five-game series gets going Wednesday night at 6:15 at Memorial Stadium in Boise.

Ogui Diaz

(3-2, 6.57 ERA) is set to make his second career start for the Frogs against left-hander Austin Kirk (3-5, 3.47 ERA).
