
Felix Jorge Named MWL Pitcher of the Week

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Midwest League and MiLB.com announced today that Kernels RHP Felix Jorge has been named Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 19th. Cael Brockmeyer of South Bend was named the Player of the Week for the same period.
In two starts for the Kernels, Jorge posted a 1-0 record and 0.75 ERA, allowing one run on seven hits, walking just four and striking out 19 in 12 IP.
The Twins signed Jorge as non-drafted free agent on February 21, 2011. He is a native of Santiago DR and pitched in 12 games for the Kernels last season (eight starts) posting a 2-5 record and 9.00 ERA. In 39 IP, he allowed 57 hits and 40 runs (39 earned) with 20 walks and 23 strikeouts.
Jorge and Brockmeyer are the first two players to be honored by the Midwest League this season.
The Kernels are in the midst of a six game road trip with games at Burlington and Wisconsin. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, April 24th to open a three game home stand against the Kane County Cougars.
