York Revolution News Release
Ryan Feierabend fired eight shutout innings as the York Revolution earned a 3-1 win over the Sugar Land Skeeters in front of 6,019 fans at Constellation Field on Thursday evening. The win is the Revs' record 77th of the season, as York ties the team record for wins in a half with 41 victories in the second half. York remains within 1.0 game of first place Lancaster, having already clinched a playoff berth, and will face the Skeeters again in Texas on Friday night with three games remaining in the regular season.
Feierabend (9-5) allowed just six hits, walked only one and struck out five. He heads into the playoffs having allowed just one run combined in 15.0 innings over his last two starts.
The Revs scored all three runs with two outs in the fifth inning, taking advantage of a pair of walks in the inning from Skeeters spot starter Will Startup (3-3). Brandon Haveman broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single to right-center, and Scott Grimes greeted reliever Pedro Liriano with a two-run double to left-center, giving York a 3-0 lead.
Sugar Land broke up the shutout with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single to left by Manny Mejia, but R.J. Rodriguez stranded a pair of runners to record his 13th save of the season.
The Revs have won 16 of their last 21 games overall, and are now a league-best 15-5 in the month of September.
York will send Corey Thurman (14-3, 3.84) to the mound on Friday night against Sugar Land's Scott Kazmir (3-6, 5.46), as Thurman will look to increase his club record for wins in a season, gunning for his 15th of the year. First pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. ET, and Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (YorkRevs) beginning at 7:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
