FC Tulsa News Release

TULSA, OK. - Hearts were broken in Tulsa this evening, as a late goal from Solomon Asante closed FC Tulsa out of the playoffs for the 2023 season. Records were broken and the stadium was buzzing for 97 minutes.

No one other than Phillip Goodrum to get the home crowd fired up tonight. Goodrum was pulled to ground by Adrián Diz Pe inside the box, who proceeded to slot the ball cooly into the bottom left corner for his 6th penalty scored this season. Back-to-back penalties for Goodrum after scoring last week vs Pittsburgh in the 90+6th minute.

Goodrum was joint in the lead of FC Tulsa's single season goal record with Rodrigo da Costa before the whistle started play. His 34th minute penalty took him to the top of the record book, scoring 12 goals this season!

A well battled first half saw FC Tulsa hold the 1-0 lead until half time. Indy Eleven had 67.2% of possession but only one shot on target, versus the Tulsa side that took three shots on target.

A shot snuck past Michael Nelson in the 53rd minute, but was immediately called offside for Indy Eleven.

Sebastián Velásquez took advantage of a ball sent across the box right to his feet from Cam Lindley to tie up the game in the 63rd minute.

Unfortunately for Tulsa, Solomon Asante put Indy Eleven in the lead in the 82nd minute after a block was attempted by the defense. This goal was enough to end the playoff race for FC Tulsa this season.

At the final whistle, both teams had four shots on target, but Indy Eleven were able to execute one more of their opportunities. FC Tulsa 1, Indy Eleven 2.

Multiple club records were set in Tulsa tonight, as the FC Tulsa season high attendance record was broken thanks to 6,444 fans inside ONEOK Field, beating the final home game of last season (2022) at 5,392.
